Climate
As part of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), we have set science-based climate targets that are in line with the latest findings in climate research and the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Validated climate targets in line with the 1.5 degree target
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has checked and confirmed our short- and long-term climate targets.
Our emissions reduction pathway aligns with the goals of the Paris Agreement, helping to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
We are reducing greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3 – from our own sites through to our supply chain and the use of our products.
Near-Term Goals
Short-term climate targets for 2030 and 2035
In the short term, our focus is on reducing emissions at our own sites and in key parts of our value chain. The SBTi has confirmed that these near-term science-based targets are scientifically sound.
Our near-term goals:
(in each case, this is compared with the base year of 2021)
Responsibility in the supply chain
Together with our suppliers
A significant way to reduce emissions is through our supply chain and collaboration with suppliers. The Melitta Group aims to ensure that, by 2030, suppliers — who are responsible for 70 per cent of emissions from purchased goods and services — set their own climate targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative criteria. This will integrate climate protection step by step throughout the entire value chain.
Long-term net-zero goals
Our path to net zero by 2045
A significant way to reduce emissions is through our supply chain and collaboration with suppliers. The Melitta Group aims to ensure that, by 2030, suppliers — who are responsible for 70 per cent of emissions from purchased goods and services — set their own climate targets in line with the Science Based Targets initiative criteria. This will integrate climate protection step by step throughout the entire value chain.
Our net-zero targets:
(in each case compared to the base year 2021)
Our priority is to consistently reduce (decarbonize) our emissions.
“Having our climate targets validated by the SBTi is an important milestone for the Melitta Group. It confirms that our emissions reduction targets are scientifically sound and will help to limit global warming to 1.5°C. This recognition motivates us to continue driving forward decarbonisation across all areas of our Group.”

What is the Science Based Targets initiative?
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global partnership of organisations that supports companies in setting science-based climate targets. It assesses and validates whether companies’ targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions are consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Science-based targets are based on the latest climate research. These targets set out how much companies must reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to limit global warming to a maximum of 1.5°C.
