Melitta at the German Graduate Congress 2018 in Cologne

On 22 and 23 November, it was again time for the German Graduate Congress in Cologne to open its doors to students, graduates and young professionals from all over Germany. "Do what you love" - was the slogan for this year's congress, which brought together around 250 employers from many different industries and over 15,200 exhibition visitors to talk about careers and topics related to their specialist interests.

We were at the Graduate Congress again too and we set up the ‘Melitta shared flat’ there. At our stand, which was designed as a cosy apartment, we welcomed the young target group to the Melitta shared flat with our diverse stand team and an abundance of exciting activities and workshops. “With the Melitta shared flat we presented a stand concept this year which was tailor made for our target group, many students, graduates and young professionals closely identified with it and felt right at home,” said Jana Reineke, head of HR marketing at Melitta. “We were able to convey the character of our family business well and communicate a very authentic impression of ourselves.”

At the long coffee table in the flat's common room, visitors and Melittans were able to chat about specialist topics, specific job offers, internships, the international trainee programme and other subjects relating to the Group over a delicious barista coffee. But sometimes the conversation was simply about the person's personal situation: Where do I stand? What do I want to do next? The four rooms in the shared flat on our stand had exciting topical focal points: sustainability, innovation, supply chain management and marketing. In the course of designing sustainable takeaway coffee mugs, taking part in Design Thinking Workshops or playing table football and doing quizzes, we had many exciting discussions and there was a lively exchange of ideas.

Jana Reineke reported: “We were very satisfied with the quality of the discussions this year. It was important to us to meet people interested in our company on an equal footing in a relaxed atmosphere and not to present a classic, stiff job application situation. Our Melitta Get Together on a professional, individual and authentic basis was very well received by the target group.”
