Our Trainee Program

Optimal preparation in 18 months

For those looking to launch their careers after graduation. No matter what your specialization is – sales, marketing, supply chain management and much more. We have exciting entry opportunities in a wide variety of areas. Our Melitta Trainee Program commences once a year. It will give you the opportunity to experience 5 different departments in 18 months and get to know the different brands – as well as the Melitta Group team. Perfect preparation for your future career at Melitta.

What you should have

To join our trainee program, you should have completed your bachelor's or master's degree in your desired focus area with good grades. You should also have a good command of English. Ideally, you’ll already have spent a few months working in a relevant area. You should have no more than six months of professional experience (as an employee).

YOUR PATH TO THE TRAINEE PROGRAM

We advertise our trainee positions every year in March. You then have time until the end of April to apply. If your qualifications align with what we're looking for and we want to know more about you, we’ll arrange a virtual get-to-know-you meeting with the relevant department and HR. And for both sides to get to know each other a little better, we’ll then invite you for an interview at our offices. If everything goes well, you’ll receive your contract by July at the latest. Your trainee program will start on October 1.

What to expect

18 months of hands-on experience await you – from day one. After all, following your induction day – when you’ll also get to know our Chief Corporate Management – you’ll start straight away with our day-to-day business. This will give you an insight into the diversity of our company and the variety of daily tasks – and you’ll be given responsibility right from the start. You can also get some experience of working abroad, because one of your stations will be at a non-German site – if possible – where you’ll get to know the global footprint of the Melitta Group and can start building your personal network. Naturally, we’ll be there for you throughout the entire program. Every trainee is assigned an experienced manager as mentor.

WE’LL HELP YOU SHAPE YOUR FUTURE

Your development opportunities are extensive. After each of your stations, you’ll get comprehensive feedback from us on your performance and progress. Thanks to your personal development plan, you’ll know exactly what you need to work on. And of course, we’ll also support you during your trainee period with targeted courses to improve and expand your skills – so that you’re ideally prepared for your position after the trainee program.

Laeticia Kaatz, Trainee Human Resources

"I was able to get to know the Melitta Group as a working student and the trainee program is also really great. A lot of trust was placed in me right from the start – for example, I’m already responsible for my own projects. I can always rely on the support of my mentor and the team. I’m also allowed to participate in the planning of my next stations."

Internship at Melitta

A first glimpse

Looking for a company for your mandatory internship – or a place for a voluntary internship? You can do both here. Because we offer internships at many of the Melitta Group’s operating divisions and sites. And we’ll provide dedicated contact persons throughout your time with us.

READY FOR SOME HANDS-ON ACTION?

A good time to start is September or April. You’re also welcome to bridge the time between your Bachelor's and Master's courses with an internship here.

Compulsory or voluntary internship?

If you do a mandatory internship with us, you usually have 3 months to gather plenty of practical experience. In the case of voluntary internships, we’re pretty flexible. For us, a duration of 5-6 months is ideal. You’re also welcome to voluntarily extend a mandatory internship.

What can you expect besides plenty of practice?

You’ll have the opportunity to network with other interns or working students. You can also arrange to work remotely. And in addition to 2.5 days of vacation per month of employment, you can look forward to fair remuneration – for both voluntary and mandatory internships. In addition, you’ll get subsidized meals at many locations. Feel free to ask our recruiting team about your individual options.

Legal clerkship

HANDS-ON LEGAL EXPERIENCE

Already passed your first state exam in law and now preparing for your second state exam? How about an elective at the Melitta Group? If you’re interested in labor law, or contract and corporate law, you’ve come to the right place. Over a 3-4 month period, you’ll get to know the work of a corporate lawyer or in-house lawyer with the above-mentioned focus areas. You should enjoy working independently and have a desire to drive topics forward on your own – because you’ll be advising our group companies as a full team member and be acting independently in front of internal and external stakeholders.

As far as your starting date is concerned, we’re very flexible. Feel free to apply and we’ll find a suitable date for you.

Working Student Jobs

Combining theory with practice

Want to get some real-life, hands-on experience during your studies? Then you’ve come to the right place with the Melitta Group. Because we can make good use of your talents and give you exciting tasks right from the start. And all this at various locations and operating divisions. You’ll get support from dedicated contact persons and mostly be able to organize your own time – after checking with your contact. You can also apply for our positions just as flexibly, because we’ll arrange your starting date on an individual basis.

What you should have

We’re pretty flexible when it comes to requirements for a position as a working student. However, you should want to support us for at least 6 months. You’re welcome to work with us as long as you’re still studying. And you should be enrolled for at least 1 more semester.

How much time do you have to support us?

We’ve had good experience with 15-20 hours per week, spread over 2-4 days. You’re also welcome to work temporarily or full-time during the semester break.

What to expect - besides plenty of work experience?

Some benefits that you might not have expected as a working student: vacation, the possibility to work remotely, and fair remuneration. How much you earn depends on whether you already have work experience and how far you are in your studies. And at many locations, you’ll also get subsidized meals. Our recruiters will be happy to advise you on your individual options.

Helping students

As a family business, it’s important to us to always be thinking about the next generation. In order to support young talents throughout their academic and professional careers, we are active in a number of programs. For example, we support the OWL Study Fund Foundation and finance annual scholarships for students to help them on their educational path.

Bachelor's and Master's Thesis

WE'RE HAPPY TO SUPPORT YOU!

It’s the crowning glory of your studies: the bachelor’s or master’s thesis. And we’re happy to support you with it. What that means in concrete terms is best discussed on an individual basis. Perhaps you want to combine your thesis with an internship here? Or just need some professional input and the expertise of our colleagues? Simply send us your topic proposals and we can discuss what the possibilities are.
