What you should have
To join our trainee program, you should have completed your bachelor's or master's degree in your desired focus area with good grades. You should also have a good command of English. Ideally, you’ll already have spent a few months working in a relevant area. You should have no more than six months of professional experience (as an employee).
YOUR PATH TO THE TRAINEE PROGRAM
We advertise our trainee positions every year in March. You then have time until the end of April to apply. If your qualifications align with what we're looking for and we want to know more about you, we’ll arrange a virtual get-to-know-you meeting with the relevant department and HR. And for both sides to get to know each other a little better, we’ll then invite you for an interview at our offices. If everything goes well, you’ll receive your contract by July at the latest. Your trainee program will start on October 1.
What to expect
18 months of hands-on experience await you – from day one. After all, following your induction day – when you’ll also get to know our Chief Corporate Management – you’ll start straight away with our day-to-day business. This will give you an insight into the diversity of our company and the variety of daily tasks – and you’ll be given responsibility right from the start. You can also get some experience of working abroad, because one of your stations will be at a non-German site – if possible – where you’ll get to know the global footprint of the Melitta Group and can start building your personal network. Naturally, we’ll be there for you throughout the entire program. Every trainee is assigned an experienced manager as mentor.
WE’LL HELP YOU SHAPE YOUR FUTURE
Your development opportunities are extensive. After each of your stations, you’ll get comprehensive feedback from us on your performance and progress. Thanks to your personal development plan, you’ll know exactly what you need to work on. And of course, we’ll also support you during your trainee period with targeted courses to improve and expand your skills – so that you’re ideally prepared for your position after the trainee program.
READY FOR SOME HANDS-ON ACTION?
A good time to start is September or April. You’re also welcome to bridge the time between your Bachelor's and Master's courses with an internship here.
Compulsory or voluntary internship?
If you do a mandatory internship with us, you usually have 3 months to gather plenty of practical experience. In the case of voluntary internships, we’re pretty flexible. For us, a duration of 5-6 months is ideal. You’re also welcome to voluntarily extend a mandatory internship.
What can you expect besides plenty of practice?
You’ll have the opportunity to network with other interns or working students. You can also arrange to work remotely. And in addition to 2.5 days of vacation per month of employment, you can look forward to fair remuneration – for both voluntary and mandatory internships. In addition, you’ll get subsidized meals at many locations. Feel free to ask our recruiting team about your individual options.
What you should have
We’re pretty flexible when it comes to requirements for a position as a working student. However, you should want to support us for at least 6 months. You’re welcome to work with us as long as you’re still studying. And you should be enrolled for at least 1 more semester.
How much time do you have to support us?
We’ve had good experience with 15-20 hours per week, spread over 2-4 days. You’re also welcome to work temporarily or full-time during the semester break.
What to expect - besides plenty of work experience?
Some benefits that you might not have expected as a working student: vacation, the possibility to work remotely, and fair remuneration. How much you earn depends on whether you already have work experience and how far you are in your studies. And at many locations, you’ll also get subsidized meals. Our recruiters will be happy to advise you on your individual options.
